Many researchers in China work on rice, but the sites are not connected and data is not shared to derive novel insights across a large scale. The CRN wants to change this by building collaborations and creating an incentive structure to do research together on shared sites.

Shared data from our sites allows novel conclusions to improve resilience and sustainability of rice production in China. We hope that the CRN can help to show how important collaborations are and that the publication system in China should facilitate this.

Collaborations in China and internationally helps us to apply for larger national and international funds. Ultimately, this will allow us to achieve a data-driven rice production and set an example for sustainable crop production globally.

MEET THE

CHINA RICE NETWORK

OUR GOAL

Climate Change, pest and diseases, and high inputs are compromising not only crop yields but also the environment and farmers' livelihoods. Our goal is to improved sustainability and resilience of China’s rice production systems to enhance the benefits for all stakeholders.

OUR VISION

We have achived our goal through novel ecological and technological approaches, a strong network of national and international collaborators, and integrating efforts across multiple spatial scales. The results of our work improve the livelihood of farmers and help decision-makers to enhance food security.

OUR MISSION

We want to bridge the communication gap between science and practice. We use agroecological principles, AI, and newly developed technologies to identify and advance the next key topics in rice production in China.
